So it’s been almost a year since I last blogged. I signed into WordPress yesterday to find a big mess, e-mailed my web designer Sarah Becan (also a talented cartoonist!) and learned that my site had been hacked! It’s fixed now, and here I am.
Here’s a rundown of what I’ve been working on.
1) A Wrinkle in Time. The book’s finished! Inked, lettered, colored (by Dicebox‘s Jenn Manley Lee), copyedited and probably somewhere overseas being printed. It will be out on October 2nd through Farrar, Straus and Giroux, and I’ll be here and there promoting it. Stay tuned! Here’s the cover:

2) Who Is AC? This one’s close to being finished–artist Tintin Pantoja is finishing up tones and colors, and we’re working on the cover. It’ll be out Spring 2013 from Atheneum Books for Young Readers. More on who AC is when we’ve got a release date.
3) Bitter Orange. I wrote a short film which I’ll be shooting in June, just in time for my 2-year anniversary of moving in Los Angeles. Sometimes it feels like directing a short is a prerequisite for living here, but that’s not to say I’m not MEGA EXCITED about mine and all the inspiring people I’m getting to work with! It’s set in Hollywood during Prohibition. And don’t worry, it’ll end up online eventually. Here’s one of the storyboards, which were drawn by Jen Wang of Koko Be Good fame.
4) Ice cream. I attended the Penn State Ice Cream Short Course in January and have begun posting original ice cream recipes over at my Ice Cream Log. My most recent flavor is Chocolate-Covered “Aunt”, which was inspired by A Wrinkle in Time, and I’ve started making vegan ice creams, too! Eventually I hope to write an ice cream cookbook.
